About Us
We are Mark and Pat Nash, a family owned and operated farm.
The Nested Garden is nestled on 11 acres in Washington County ~ Bristol Virginia.
We built our dream home, in the center of a cow field, over 2 years beginning in 2007. Our soil is rich and perfect for growing trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetables.
Beautiful landscape gardening has always been a primary focus of our gardens. Being an empty-nester, I found myself out in the flower beds more frequently. Over time, we have added a few more landscaping beds.
Just prior to the pandemic, Mark gifted me a 10x12 greenhouse. He primed and painted each piece black. After assembling the greenhouse and building shelves inside, he built a shed off one side and installed a sink and counter space. This is one my favorite, special areas of our property.
2021 we added a perennial flower bed on the other side of the greenhouse.
2022 we added a 8x8 perennial flower bed in front of the shed. All of annual flowers are grown in a
20x20 inground bed, 3~4x8 raised beds and a 26x4 raised bed.
2023 we have added another 40x40 annual garden.
2024 at the end of this growing season, we have begun to completely restructure all of our annual garden beds. The 20x20 growing space will become an extension of our original perennial flower bed.
The original raised beds will be removed and replaced with a total of 14 raised beds, in a new configuration with gravel paths connecting the raised bed area and perennial beds.
The 20x20 annual bed is also being reconfigured for some other fun events!
All the while I have been reading, researching, and gathering all the information I can about growing cut flowers.
Over the last few years, I have found my love for growing cut flowers. I never knew how much tender-love and attention it took to grow flowers from seed. It is truly amazing to watch a tiny seed grow into a beautiful flower.
We grow a variety of specialty cut flowers, perennial flowers, grasses and shrubs.
All of the flowers in our arrangements come from our gardens or are foraged from our family’s yards. On rare occasions we may need to outsource flowers.
